World Car Free Day is an annual campaign aimed at encouraging the public to drive less and embrace alternative forms of transportation. It offers communities across the globe a small taste of the environmental and social benefits a car-free future would provide, like cleaner air and safer streets. World Car Free Day has been held on September 22 for over 20 years.

5 Reasons To Go Car Free
1. Cleaner Air
According to the International Energy Agency, transportation is the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions. Responsible for 24% of direct CO2 emissions from fuel combustion on the globe.
2. Longer Lives
Air pollution isn’t just bad for the planet. It’s the 4th leading cause of premature death too. Less time sitting in traffic also means more time moving, which provides tons of health benefits.
3. Stronger Communities
Opting to walk, ride, or bike helps promote better infrastructure, which leads to fewer injuries, reduced congestion, and less noise pollution.
4. Happier Kids
Kids who ride bikes are known to develop key areas of skill such as coordination, balance, and concentration. Furthermore, you will find that your child’s confidence is increasing the more they ride.
5. Less Stress
82% of drivers experience road rage and 33 percent of those who spend more than two hours driving per day report feeling “psychologically distressed.” Car Free = Care Free.
