Many are struggling, where others are taking every opportunity to innovate and adjust their business model to the fight against COVID-19.  

One restaurant, in particular, has adapted their “haute cuisine” menu and taken a liking to our RadRunner as a means to deliver their delicious meals to customers who can no longer sit at their favourite Utrecht hotspot. 

De Klub can be found in Europalaan, Utrecht. Their food is based on classic European cuisine, with Asian and Scandanavian influences. 

A cozy kitchen, filled with fun-loving staff who are happy to share their sense of style, fresh ingredients, homegrown veggies and quirky personality with whoever drops by.


We spoke to a De Klub hostess, Lisa, who was happy to share how business has been affected since social distancing regulations have been implemented. “The biggest difference is the lack of social interaction with our guests. Of course, we are still able to have short conversations with them when we deliver food, or when customers pick up food from our restaurant.”

Lisa says the thing she misses most during this time is the interaction with guests. “One of our main focuses in De Klub is to make people feel at home. The ability to walk around freely, give a staff member the occasional high-five, talking to guests about the food and pairing wines, the general buzz of the restaurant is something we all miss dearly. Our team is like family, and we all take our roles in hospitality very seriously. De Klub is our family. And everyone is welcome!”

Once the Dutch government requested the shutdown of all restaurants on March 16th, De Klub immediately began their delivery and pickup service. “The center of Utrecht is really cramped, and has a lot of one way streets, so an ebike for delivery was ideal.” Lisa explained. “We were unsure initially, as none of us had ridden a ebike before, but now we’re hooked! The RadRunner is a head-turner. It’s eco-friendly, it’s easy to haul our orders around town, parking is never an issue, and our customers love seeing us arriving at their door on a fun little utility bike.”

De Klub delivers from Wednesday to Saturday, and their menu is delectable!
Heartwarming soups, mouth-watering cheese boards, decadent desserts and delicious wines can be ordered and paid for before 14h00 for same day delivery. “We usually serve high-quality plated dishes in style, but for now we have had to adjust.
