Only 20minutes from Utrecht Central Station, De Meern is a village with a broad number of historical, cultural and fun places to visit, including the Rad Power Bikes Europe Showroom.
Now that the sun is shining, and Summer is approaching, it’s a terrific opportunity to take advantage of the warm weather and plan an outdoor excursion on your bike, car, bus or by foot! Our in-house photographer took a 11km ride around town from our showroom, and recorded her RadRunner trip through De Meern. Stopping by iconic spots like De Limes, Castle De Haar and Maxima Park.
Getting outside -- in bad times and good -- is one of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself. It doesn’t just boost your health, it also helps lift your mood and relieve stress.

Castellum Hoge Woerd
Castellum Hoge Woerd is a fascinating, modern reconstruction of a Roman fort.
More than 2000 years ago, Roman soldiers guarded the river Rhine from this fort. The Castellum is located right on the Limes. Today, this historic site brings together culture, nature, and history.
Maximus Brewery
A young and vibrant brewery in the middle of De Meern. Maximus offers various types of beers that are brewed in the brewery's steel system. This brewing installation can be admired in its entirety from the tasting room. Here you can enjoy beer tastings, food and learn about the brewing process.
Maximapark
Named after Queen Maxima, Maxima Park is the largest urban park in the Netherlands. At a whopping 300 hectares, this park is filled with plant and animal life. During Spring and Summer you can enjoy skating, cycling, walking, picnicking or a splash in the canals.
Key West Beach House
Key West Beach House is a laid back restaurant on the “beach” of Haarrijnse Plas. Throughout the year (prior to Covid-19) all are welcome to sit on the veranda overlooking the water and enjoy a drink or bite to eat.
Geertje’s Hoeve
Open 7 days a week, Geertje’s Hoeve offers an opportunity to experience the joys of farm life. Sit down at the restaurant, purchase organic cheese, fruit and veggies, or register to pet and feed the baby animals. Geertje’s mission and vision is to bring people into contact with farm life. Show where our food comes from and deliver honest food in the shop and restaurant.
Castle De Haar
The largest and most beautiful castle in the Netherlands. Castle de Haar is wonderfully flamboyant inside and out.
Reconstructed by famous Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers (who also designed the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central Station), Castle De Haar has everything you can expect, from towers, moats, suspension bridges and the most stunning gardens.
