Whether it’s cheesy dad jokes, their top-notch barbecue skills, or a fondness for classic action films, there are plenty of things we love about our dads.
Luckily, we just so happen to have two of Europe’s raddest dads on our team.
With Father’s Day fast approaching, we sat down with them to see what they have planned for their special day.
Sander - Product Support Specialist
Sander is a Rad Power Bikes technical wizard who commutes on the RadRhino almost every day. He lives with his wife, Wendy, and two kids, Timo (15) and Ilsa (12). Raising two young adults has its challenges, but Sander provided us with some sound papa wisdom.

What does being a Dad mean to you?
Being a parent, it’s really important to listen to the thoughts of your kids without judging or rejecting things they are interested in. Respect that children will make their own choices. Show them to enjoy the simple things in life, like going out for a ride to grab some ice-cream. These are often the things that bring you the most joy.
It also means being patient! Some friends have complimented me for my patience, but I feel like this is something I have had to learn. Patience with your children is vital! As your kids get older, you have to implement different parenting strategies, like just listening instead of giving advice or a solution, so they can learn to stand on their own. To direct and lead by simultaneously not adding pressure is a difficult skill us parents have to realise.
Any special plans for Father’s Day?
Trying not to get up too early because my kids usually make me breakfast in bed. It's a family tradition and they do the same for my wife on Mother’s Day. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll get some typical ‘Dad’ presents from my kids and wife.
We’ll finish up some chores around the house, and take a ride on our bikes to visit my parents. If the weather is good, a BBQ is planned, so I'll probably have to work anyway!
Biking is such an integral part of living in Holland, so it’s important that both of my kids feel comfortable and confident riding around town. My children had been riding their own bikes since the age of 5 to school! I can tell you those were sometimes challenging but fun early rides!
Nowadays my son and I enjoy mountain biking together. We do this almost every week, so he’s very confident on the bike. My daughter's more into Hip Hop Fusion dancing and likes to show us her new moves! Her school is only a 5minute bike ride away. She loves Rad Power Bikes ebikes, especially the RadRunner. So I have no doubt she’ll manage just fine when she rides alone more frequently.
Teun - Commercial Sales Representative
Teun is the Commercial Sales Rep in Europe and has worked at Rad Power Bikes for 2.5 years. He has a 2-year-old son, Yann, who is no stranger to the back of Rad Power Bikes ebikes. As a family, Teun, his wife Nathalie, and Yann enjoy exploring the countryside on the RadWagon Electric Cargo Bike. With a 158kg capacity, they’re happy to leave the car in the garage and ride Rad as a family.
What does being a Dad mean to you?
If I could sum it up in one word: Responsibility!
That means keeping my son safe, giving him space to have fun, learn, and explore. My wife and I encourage a fit and healthy lifestyle, as well as other influences such as music, sports, and education.
Being an avid cyclist, do you think it’s important that Yann shares your passion for cycling?
Because we live in the Netherlands, it’s very important that Yann learns to ride a bike, but of course, I am open to him exploring whatever activities catch his attention, be it cycling, soccer, rugby, whatever.
He really enjoys being on a bike now. He is so curious about the world around him and sitting on the back of the RadWagon allows him to look around and discover new things. We enjoy riding through the countryside where Yann can spot the birds, boats, and windmills. Being on an ebike is perfect for these activities, because you’re able to ride far and at a pace where you can safely look around and really enjoy being outside.
Any special plans for Father’s Day?
I’ll probably visit my Dad with Yann. Have a bit of a boys afternoon. If the weather is good, Nathalie, Yann and I will go to the forest and have a picnic.
Spending time with the family is a gift in itself.
